Whatcha Craftin’ ~ Mario Bookmarks

on October 10, 2012

Are you ready for today’s craft? I sure am. I’ve been meaning to blog about this for a whole month! Back in September Mark bought a book that he wanted to read with just the older 2 boys. He thought that would be a fun new nightly routine to have with them.

The first night he read to them we could only find one bookmark and it was Brynnan’s. So, Mark said that he would make some Mario Brothers’ bookmarks for them to use in their daily reading books. That very much satisfied them! The next day Mark got to work after dinner on some cool new bookmarks for them. They turned out GREAT!!:)

Here’s the process of what we did:

First Mark created the bookmarks in Illustrator. He pulled them up in my Silhouette Studio program and set everything up to print and cut them.

They printed off on the printer. We ended up doing 2 sets because I forgot to put the cardstock in the printer the first time:)

Mark put them on the mat to be cut by the Silhouette.

I think Mark really likes using the Silhouette. So, whenever there is a chance he can do something with it he does it! He asks me tons of questions while using it, but WILL NOT let me just do it for him! It’s funny:)

Brynnan waited eagerly for the Silhouette to finish cutting.

And here they are all cut out! Yay!!

We wanted to make sure they would last a long time so I went to Walmart and bought some self laminating packages and laminated them all for the boys. What do you think? The boys love them. Since they only read one book at a time we have 6 extra laying around, but at least that way they can choose what character they want with each new book:)

Do you want to have your own bookmarks for you Mario fans? Well, you can download them HERE. Thanks for stopping by!!

Wow, those look so professional. Awesome job. I really need to get a silouette. Or a cricut. Or sommmething like that. Cutting out small circles by hand? So unprofessional. 🙂

I LOVE to hear from you!
