Sewing Saturday

on January 12, 2013

This post is really late. I kind of forgot I wanted to write it until now. I hope you’re all having a wonderful Saturday! It’s been below freezing and snowy and gloomy today so we’ve stayed in and played games and read books. I finished my 3rd book of the month:) Woohoo! I love it when I find a book series that I just can’t get enough of. Once I’ve finished reading them it feels so good, but it’s also a little sad because I’m done with them… I can always read them again though, which I plan on doing.

Anyway, I have so many sewing projects I need to be working on right now, but this week I started a new challenge along with Crazy Little Projects. She gave a project so of course I just had to give it a try. I made 6 burp cloths yesterday and I plan on selling them in my etsy shop as soon as I get better pictures of them!

First I cut the flannel fabric I had to 20″x9″, then I pinned it onto the burp cloth. I got the burp cloths at Walmart for $13.34 for a 10 pack. Don’t buy them at target if you decided to do this project! I went there after Walmart and for a 10 pack at Target they cost $16.99!! I couldn’t believe that! So, I went back to Walmart to buy the 10 pack!:P

Here are the first 2 I finished. The first one I did with blue thread and decided I didn’t like it as much so I used off white thread on the second one.

Here I am sewing the project together.

This is the other side of the burp cloth. I don’t know if you can tell, but this is the one I used blue thread on.

I did 2 of each different kind of fabric so I could put them in a 3 pack for my Etsy shop.

Here’s all 3 of them together.

I folded in the white edges to make them look all pretty.

And tied a ribbon around them for a nice presentation.

I really like how they turned out! And they were so easy to make. I think it took me maybe an hour to do all of it, cutting, pinning and sewing.

If you want to get Amber’s tutorial for making these burp cloths you can find her original post here.

Thanks for stopping by today!! I’ll see you on Monday!

Great idea! I’ve got a baby with horrible spit-up issues. I can hardly keep the ones I have clean.

  2. Rachelle says:

It’s also really cute if you use a decorative stitch to sew the flannel on.

  3. Burp cloths are probably one of the most useful cleanup tools for babies.
