I was hoping to post the Sew Along dress today, but I still haven’t finished it. I’ve been busy doing so much other stuff. I’m almost done with it though so maybe I can post it later this week.
For Christmas, Brynnan got a guitar. Mark asked me to make him a guitar strap to go with it so I did. It was easy and fun. I did have a few problems along the way so I’ll share them so you don’t make the same mistakes I did if you ever make one:)
I found a tutorial on pinterest, of course, and picked out my fabrics. Mark helped me pick out the fabric we thought Brynnan would like. I think we did a good job:)
Here are some pictures of the process. I followed the tutorial with the measurements, but I should’ve changed them to fit the smaller kid size strap hardware I had. Where did I get the hardware? From one of the 2 guitars we have for the Wii/guitar heroes game! LOL We already had it on hand and I didn’t have to go out and buy new ones. We will eventually someday have to replace the hardware for the guitar hero guitar, but I’m not too worried about that:)
I used heavy weight fusible interfacingI sewed the two pieces together at the ends and then ironed the interfacing on it.
I followed the directions and sewed it all together.
This was the first time I got to use my walking foot!! Since there were so many layers it was better to use the walking foot. I was excited to try it out!!
Looks fun, doesn’t it? I like it!:)
And here he is with the strap on his new guitar:) I don’t know if you can tell from this picture, but the strap is a little too wide. I also had to cut about a foot or more off the bottom so it would fit Brynnan. I should’ve measured before I started, but it all worked out in the end. Brynnan thought it was so cool that I made him a strap for his new guitar. I told him that Santa asked me to make it so there wouldn’t be a problem there:) I want to take credit for everything I sew!! Some imaginary man isn’t getting any of it for my hard work!! LOL
Here are some close ups of the strap:
Mark bought the guitar at Deseret Industries a couple weeks before Christmas. Wanna guess how much it cost? $10!!! I think it’s the best $10 we’ve ever spent!! 🙂
Well, that’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by today!! I hope you have a great day!!
Very cool! I’m impressed!
That is so great! Mark has scored some good deals from D.I. lately.
Thanks so much for your comment, love my room too;)
Your DIY looks great too.;)
Have a nice weekend!
